Schedules Really Are Your Friend
So many people, mom’s especially shy away from staying on schedule. While a strict schedule is not always possible if you have a general idea of what you will be or should be doing at a certain time then things will flow better. Plan a time for dinner, a time for family time and a time for bed for your children. Not only will this make budgeting the time you have to spend with your kids easier but will also give your children a sense of stability.
Involve Your Kids In Activities
Not every activity you do with your children has to be thought of as a “fun activity”. There are several activities around the house that have to be done on a daily or weekly basis that many children will help with and that means you can also spend time together. When your cooking almost any age child can help in someway from pouring liquids to measuring things. In the garden while many kids are no big enough to help mow the lawn almost every age child can pick weeds or rake, at least then can attempt it.
Spend Quiet Time With Your Children Before Bed
No matter how old we get everyone loves to be read too. It’s something we have loved since we were small children. It can be a great way to spend time reading to your younger children and as they grow have them read some to you. Not only will it help increase their vocabulary and their reading skills it will give them confidence too.
Find Time For Yourself To Relax
While I know your children are your first priority and your job will follow a close second you need to remember for all of these things to function you need to take time for yourself. Many times working mom’s forget about themselves in the shuffle of trying to maintain a home, be a parent and also work. Taking even just 30 minutes every day to spend taking care of you will help you feel more relaxed and refreshed. Try taking a warm bath before bed or curling up with a good book. These are things you can do once your children are in bed so you wont take from their time but you are still giving yourself some much needed alone time.
Being a working mom is one of the hardest jobs in the world but it also has many rewards. By being a working mom you are being a role model for your children. Teaching the value of a hard days work no matter if you are performing physically labor or mental labor you are still doing the best thing for your family by meeting their needs.
